Overall objective of the book
Laser technology will play a dominant role during the 21st century and beyond, continuously changing the world through advances in laser applications and uses. The aim of the book is to present the State-of-the-Art in the field of laser and electro-optics. This book will represent the contributions of the top researchers in this field and will serve as a valuable tool for professionals in this interdisciplinary field. Each chapter focuses on a topic and is organized to be self-sufficient. Contents in each chapter include concise description of relevant background information, major issues, current trend and future challenges. Please note that the paper mentioned in the call mail was a key to select you as a possible book author but you are free to choose topic and author team best suits to your current research efforts. Topics covered by the book include but are not limited to: Spontaneous and Stimulated Transitions Optical Frequency Amplifiers Practical Laser Systems Passive Optical Resonators Optical Resonators Containing Amplifying Media Laser Radiation Control of Laser Oscillators Optically Pumped Solid-State Lasers Tunable Lasers Analysis of Optical Systems Optics of Gaussian Beams Optical Fibers and Waveguides Coherence Theory Enhancements to Laser Operation External Optics Optical Amplifiers All Laser Types (Solid State Lasers, Semiconductor Lasers, Liquid Lasers, Laboratory Developments, Helium-Neon Lasers, Noble Gas Ion Lasers, Heluim-Cadmium Lasers Carbon Dioxide Lasers, Chemical Lasers, Copper and Gold Vapor Lasers , Excimer Lasers, X-Ray Lasers, Free-Electron Lasers, Fiber Laser and Amplifiers, Color-Center Lasers, Ruby Lasers, Neodymium Lasers, Lead Salt Diode Laser, Polymer Lasers, …) Nonlinear Effects in Active and Passive Optical Devices and Systems Short Pulse Generation, Ultra Fast Effects and Dynamical Phenomena Dispersive Media and Light Beam Propagation in Optical Waveguides and Gratings Novel Materials, Devices, and Simulation tools Photonic Integrated Circuits and Broadband Optical Networks Modelling Modelling of Physical Processes in Lasers State-of-the-Art Applications Targeted Audience Advances in Lasers and Electro Optics is suitable as a textbook for senior or graduate courses. Open Access Open Access is a new direction in academic publishing where all chapters are available for full free access on-line. This book is going to be published as an open access, fully searchable, free by anyone, any where in the world. Why Open Access? We believe that immediate, world-wide, barrier-free, open access to the full text of research articles is in the best interests of the scientific community. Authors benefits Free on-line availability substantially increases a paper's impact. The mean number of citations to off line articles is 2.74, and the mean number of citations to on-line articles is 7.03, an increase of 157%. (Source: Steve Lawrence in Nature forum on Future e-access to the primary literature, 31 May 2001) Publishing costs Publishing with open access is not without costs since the book is also going tobe published in printed edition with ISBN number (costs of review, corrections, preparation for print, print, postal shipment, cover design...). Corresponding author will also receive one copy of the book, and books are going to be sent to the major world university libraries free of charge. The publishing fee per chapter is 470 Eur In comparison to other open access publishers, which imply the author fee of minimum 3000 Eur, this publishing fee is rather than symbolic. Note: This is not going to be the e-book, rather printed book with free on-line access as well. |
